Incumbents Face November Challengers

Filing for the November 2 general election in Fairfield County has closed with several challengers throwing their hats into the race.

Fairfield County Treasurer Norma Branham, who has held her office for 16 years, will face Frank Johnson.

Four of the members on the Fairfield County Council are seeking re-election. The Dist. 7 seat is held by Council Chairman David Brown. His opponent will be Mary Gail Douglas.

District 5 councilman David Ferguson is facing a challenge by Kirk Chappell.

Mikel Trapp has no opposition in the District 3 race.

Councilman Dwayne Perry, District 1 incumbent, will face Carnell Murphy.

Fairfield County School District Board of Trustees incumbents Catherine Kennedy, District 1, and Rickey Johnson, District 5,, both face opposition.

Andrea Harrison will run against Kennedy and Bobby Cunningham is opposing Johnson.

District 3 incumbent Henry Miller is unopposed, and District 7 member Polly Parker is not seeking re-election. Only Ronald Smith filed for her seat, and will not face a challenger.
