WINNSBORO — In a S.C. 34 SCISA rivalry battle of the Eagles, Richard Winn Academy soared past Newberry Academy on Tuesday night.

RWA cruised to a 9-0 victory thanks to the stingy pitching of Blake Pauley who picked up his first win of the season.

Leading hitters for the Eagles were Corey Davis who went 2-3, Patrick Pope who was 2-4 with a double, and Austin Knox and John Coleman who both went 2-4 at the plate.

The Eagles improved to 5-2 on the young season while Newberry Academy dropped to 1-2. The RWA Eagles faced a stiff test in road action versus the Columbia High Capitals on Thursday night.

Results were not available by press time for the Friday edition of The Herald Independent.
