WINNSBORO — The Richard Winn Lady Eagles continued their winning ways Friday night, defeating the Warriors of Spartanburg Christian Academy. The 33-21 victory improved the Eagles record to 20-1 on the season.
With another region victory under their belt, the Eagles are looking like a lock for the playoffs at this point. The Eagles are classified as the 76th best team in the state according to maxpreps.com and the third best team in their division.
That is quite an achievement for a team that many considered would be in a rebuilding year after the graduation of all conference center Alex Maas last spring.
This season has proven the Eagles don’t rebuild, they reload. This team is soaring near the playoffs once more just as it has for the past two seasons under head Coach Jason Haltiwanger.
The Eagles faced a good out of conference measuring stick in their Monday night game. Monday evening they squared off at home against the Mid-Carolina Rebels and hoped to avenge their only loss of the season which came on the road to the Rebels.
Mid-Carolina came in at 6-6 on the year and the visitors from Prosperity looked to get over the .500 mark with a victory over the Eagles. Results for that game were unavailable at press time, but a full article will be in the Friday edition of The Herald Independent.
