WINNSBORO — Paul Swearingen presented Sarah Owens from Sistercare as his guest speaker at a recent Rotary Club meeting.

Owens shared facts about Sistercare, their clients and what they do with reference to domestic violence. This organization began 25 years ago and serves as an advocate for women of criminal domestic violence.

Sistercare currently serves five counties in the midlands with three shelters. Owens talked about some of the conditions they encounter as well as the services they provide to their clients. South Carolina ranks among the top five states in the nation with high domestic violence statistics.
