WINNSBORO — The Arbor Day program sponsored by the Winnsboro Garden Club, took place on Dec. 7 at Richard Winn Academy. Lou Anne Atkerson, Winnsboro Garden Club member and RWA teacher, was in charge of the Arbor Day program. Her second-grade students read aloud the history of Arbor Day and a variety of poems about trees prior to helping plant the Japanese Maple tree in the RWA Memorial Butterfly Garden. The tree was donated by Martha Ladd in memory of her mother, Frances Haslett, and her mother-in-law, Dot Ladd.
