FAIRFIELD COUNTY — The driver of a Volvo tractor trailer truck died in a Dec. 17 collision while travelling northbound on I-77.

The truck ran into the rear of a 2000 Honda driven by Janet Bunch, 56, of Fort Mill.

After the impact at the 42 mile marker, the tractor trailer travelled off the road and its cab collided with a guard rail.

The driver, whose name has not been released by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the accident the right lane of I-77 was closed for about four hours on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
