WINNSBORO — A local man is behind bars and charged with armed robbery and pointing a firearm.James Carter Hewitt is being held at Fairfield County Detention Center, and has provided a signed, written confession to a robbery, which took place Oct. 17 at Jackie’s Package Store.“When (the suspect) went into the store, he was wearing a mask,” said Winnsboro Police Chief Freddie Lorick. “(The victim) recognized his voice.”Lorick said the clerk called the suspect’s name and thought it was a joke made in poor taste.“He told her it wasn’t a joke and to give him the money,” Lorick said.The employee then told the suspect she would be calling the police.
