Investigators with the Winnsboro Department of Public Safety are looking for a man who allegedly forced his way through the front door of an apartment Sunday morning, assaulted the resident and made off with a fistful of cash.
According to the incident report, the suspect, described as a black male wearing black clothing and a black ski mask, forced his way through the front door of an apartment on 200 Castlewood II Drive at 4:30 a.m. Sunday. The suspect reportedly pointed a handgun at the victim, a 19-year-old man, then struck him twice in the face before fleeing with $103 in cash. The victim, who police said was alone in the home at the time of the incident, was transported by ambulance to Fairfield Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Investigators collected DNA evidence at the crime scene and, on Monday morning, said they are currently seeking a “person of interest” in the case.
