One person is dead after being hit by a train last night.
The man was reportedly lying on the railroad tracks near Bi-Lo at Highway 321 Memorial Day night when he was hit.
Antonio Pineda, of 970 Golf Course Road, Winnsboro, died at the scene, according to Fairfield County Coroner Berkley Ramsey.
Pineda would have turned 33 on June 5.
The conductor was traveling south just outside the town of Winnsboro when he noticed Pineda lying on the tracks.
The conductor blew the trains whistle and tired to stop but was not able to.
An autopsy is being preformed Wednesday, said Ramsey.
Railroad officials and the coroner’s office are investigating the incident.
