Fairfield County Library Director Sarah McMaster is brimming with excitement over the news that the five month renovation project of the Main Library is nearing the end.
“We are moving back home,” McMaster said. “The construction work should be done next week and the furniture and computer wiring will be in the week after that. The current schedule puts us back in as of May 29.”
The 35-year-old library building was in need of updating, and received new paint and carpet. There are new metal shelves for some of the collections, energy efficient changes such as replacing the old fluorescent lighting with new and adding some new insulation.
The Library collections will be moved back to the Main Branch at 300 W. Washington St. in Winnsboro over a two week period from May 14 through May 28.
While the main library is closed, materials may be returned in the library book drop at the temporary location on Kincaid Bridge Road and at the Ridgeway Branch Library. The Ridgeway location will be open extra hours during the transition on Monday-Friday, May 14-18 and Monday-Friday, May 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
