WINNSBORO — A season with a steep learning curve ended with a three-game losing streak for the Fairfield Central High School Lady Griffins softball team. Still, their coach sees hope for the future thanks to the game experience a lot of young girls gained.
FCHS came up on the wrong end of an 18-1 score against Indian land on April 22. Pitcher Tyeisha Jackson could not quieten the Warriors’ bats. Leading hitters were Triona Parnell, A’Kierrah Marshall and Daijah Gaither.
Jackson and her teammates suffered consecutive 10-0 losses to Newberry and Chesterfield, respectively, to end the season.
In the Tuesday night Newberry-FCHS game, Jackson once again was the pitcher. Leading hitters were A’Kierrah Marshall, Tyeisha Jackson and Katelyn Haney. Jackson took the mound in the season finale for the Lady Griffins against Chesterfield, but the results were identical on the scoreboard.
In the Friday night contest, A’kierrah Marshall, Tyeisha Jackson, Daijah Gaither and Ashle’Bates were the leading hitters for FCHS.
