WINNSBORO — The family of Etta Mae Washington Williams came together Feb. 2 to celebrate her 100th birthday. The celebration was held at the Holiday Inn in Columbia with nearly 200 guests in attendance.

Williams is the oldest of eight siblings born to Elliott and Ida Washington in 1913.

She married Fortune Williams and together they had one child, a daughter, Ruth Bernice Davis. Her family includes son-in-law Joe L. Davis; grandson, Randolph Davis, and granddaughter-in-law, Gloriastine; three great-grandsons, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Williams is a graduate of Winnsboro High School, a former member of New Hope A.M.E. Church where she worshipped for many years and current member at The Progressive Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of Elder Woodrow Willingham.

One of her favorite pastimes is to sit in her bedroom singing and talking with her only grandson, Randolph, whom she loves dearly. The love that she shares for her family showed during her birthday celebration when she was escorted into the banquet hall. The luncheon was filled with laughter, singing and reflections by friends and family.
