During the past few weeks, several incidents have occurred in the Wateree Estates Road area where numerous vehicles have been unlawfully entered and several items were taken, including money and a handgun.

One vehicle was stolen. Additionally, a residence was broken into where a laptop computer was stolen.

After a thorough investigation Fairfield County Sheriff’s deputies were able to identify a suspect, Jesse Andrew Gregory, 28, of Flynn Drive in North Charleston.

FCSO deputies notified law enforcement agencies in the Charleston area.

On Friday, Sept. 28, North Charleston Police Department officers observed Gregory in the vehicle stolen from a residence on Wateree Estates Road and attempted to stop the vehicle, according to reports.

After a pursuit, Gregory wrecked and was taken into custody.

He is currently being held at the J. Al Cannon Jr., Detention Center in Charleston on charges relating to Gregory’s arrest there.

According to Fairfield County Sheriff’s Deputy Captain Brad Douglas, “After Gregory is released from his charges by North Charleston PD, he will be transported to Fairfield County to face charges for alleged offenses that occurred here, which include burglary first, grand larceny, and several petit larceny offenses.”

Sheriff Herman Young would like to thank all the residents of the Lake Wateree area for being vigilant and providing information which aided in the identification of Gregory which led to his eventual arrest.
