WINNSBORO — Mrs. Martha S. Wood of Winnsboro, died at Fairfield Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at St. John’s Episcopal Church conducted by Rev, Jim Neuburger. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Pope Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wood was born on November 21, 1921 in Richmond, Va. She was the daughter of Odie Lee and Jennie Franck Selecman. She was predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick). She graduated from Amelia High School, Amelia Va., and The University of Mary Washington in the Class of 1943. She taught in the public schools of Va. for three years before coming to Winnsboro with her husband who worked at Uniroyal. She retired from Fairfield Vocational Career Center after fifteen years. In the past she belonged to a number of clubs and was active in her church work.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Barbara) of Charlottesville, Va. and Robert (Elaine) of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, Jason (Betsy) Wood of Knoxville, Tenn., John (Ashley) Wood of West Columbia; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Meredith Wood, both of Atlanta, Ga. She is survived by two great grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
