WINNSBORO — There was an animal mix-up following the Winnsboro Christmas parade, one of stuffed animals, that is.
Amy Douglas of Kincaid Bridge Road loaned out several of her keepsake stuffed animals for use on the 4-H horse club Christmas parade float.
The day after the parade, Douglas and her children were going through the animals used on the parade float and realized that her Velveteen Rabbits, which are over 25 years old, and that her son and daughter’s Yearly Christmas Bears from 2008 and 2009 were missing.
Douglas was surprised to read the Herald Independent “Sharing during the holiday season” and learn that the animals had been given away by an anonymous donor without her permission. She speculates that some of the stuffed animals must have fallen off the float during the parade and that it went unnoticed.
“Someone wanting to do a good deed must have found the animals and decided to give them away,” Douglas said. “But these are cherished keepsakes, not gifts.”
She was working while the parade was happening so she was not able to keep watch on the keepsakes.
If anyone knows who has these four stuffed animals, Douglas really hopes they can be returned to her family due to their sentimental value.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of these stuffed animals is asked to contact her at 815-0688.
