The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office made the following arrests:
— Joseph Foster, 19, of 155-B Birch St. in Winnsboro was arrested Jan. 10 for criminal domestic violence. According to the incident report, the victim, who stated she was one month pregnant, was struck with a closed fist above her left eye. The victim said she and Foster had been having relationship problems for a few days preceding the incident and when she asked him to leave the residence that they share together, he hit her.
— John McAlpine Haynes IV, 22, of 9146 Newberry Road, was arrested Jan. 11 for possession of marijuana as deputies conducted a safety checkpoint at Old Camden Road and Forrest Hills Drive. During the same traffic stop, Gregory Alan Hinson Jr., 22, of 351 Bundrick in Winnsboro, was arrested for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. According to the incident report, deputies smelled the odor of marijuana and asked the subjects to step out of the vehicle. The report stated that Haynes then told deputies he had marijuana on him. A red and silver grinder was removed from Haynes and the grinder contained a green, leafy substance.
The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following incidents:
— Deputies responded Jan. 10 to a domestic dispute at a Rose Lane residence in Ridgeway. According to the incident report the victim reported a larceny of a vehicle because the spouse had removed the tag from the vehicle. After talking with deputies, the tag was returned to the vehicle and the couple agreed to work on their marriage.
— Deputies responded Jan. 11 to a burglary/breaking and entering at a Bishop Squirewell Road residence in Ridgeway. Jewelry, electronics, television sets, sneakers and food were among items stolen, with an estimated value of $2,840. The responding deputy observed a broken bedroom window as the method of entry.
— Deputies responded Jan. 12 to an assault at a Jackson Creek Road residence in Winnsboro. According to the incident report, the victim stated the subject and he went to a club to have a beer, and were not served which angered the subject. The victim attempted to drive his truck away from a potential altercation but said the subject took his keys, then threw a tire iron at him which struck the victim in the head. The subject then climbed into the victim’s truck and backed into the victim.
— Deputies responded Jan. 12 to a disturbance call on S.C. 34 East with the caller reporting gunshots fired. According to the incident report, deputies responded to the C&B Sports Bar and were told the people fighting had left the club. Deputies instructed the remaining people to clear the parking lot.
