RIDGEWAY — U.S. Congressman Mick Mulvaney will host a town hall meeting today for his constituents of the Fifth District in Ridgeway at Lake Wateree Baptist Church, 5856 River Road, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mulvaney will give a presentation and host a question and answer period. The event is open to the public.
Some issues that will be discussed include agriculture, budget, cyber security, family values, healthcare, homeland security, immigration, jobs, the economy, national defense and the Second Amendment.
Mulvaney currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee as well as the House Small Business Committee.
During the 2012 general election for U.S. House District 5, Mulvaney lost to Democrat Joyce Knott 7,170 votes to 3,762, but won overall with 115,324 votes to 113,904 votes.
He is the first Republican to represent South Carolina’s 5th District since 1883.
District 5 is made up of 11 counties including Cherokee County, Chester County, Fairfield County, Kershaw County, Lancaster County, Lee County, Newberry County, Spartanburg County, Sumter County, Union County and York County.
