WINNSBORO — A county council meeting that began with encouraging news from Fairfield County Director of Economic development about 121 jobs coming to Fairfield County turned into conflict Monday night in council chambers. During the second public comment time deputies walked to the podium several times to usher citizens from there once their three minute limit to speak was up. Then, just prior to executive session, Chairman David Ferguson threatened to clear the room after applause broke out when one member of the Saving Fairfield Group was escorted from chambers. For more on this conflict, as well as a full report on partial collapse of a wall at Drawdy Park, the potential county sale of a 402-acre tract of land at the recommendation of the economic development committee, funding for Fairfield Memorial Hospital and council’s executive session for a contractual matter, see Friday’s edition of The Herald Independent.
