Lady Griffins win first ever region title

WINNSBORO — The Lady Griffins’ basketball team secured its first ever region title Saturday night with a 52-42 victory over Keenan.
Fairfield Central head coach Cedrick Simpson was all smiles after the game.
“I’m at a loss for words,” he said. “I am super excited about it though, especially for excited for the community, the parents, our administration and our team.”
Fairfield’s Raven Rivers sunk the first points of the game with a three-pointer and the Lady Griffs never looked back from that point on.
Jada Martin led Fairfield Central with a game-high 15 points and both Tanise Davis and Chyna Moore added 10 points each.
The Lady Griffins will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday (Feb. 11) when they host North Central for Senior Night.
