WINNSBORO —Gunshots were fired last night (Feb. 28) around 8 p.m. off Fagan Road in the south Winnsboro area according to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO).
A victim, whose named has not been released, suffered two gunshot wounds.
According to Capt. Brad Douglas, two shots were fired with one bullet striking the victim in the shoulder and the other one grazing his eye.
“The report says two shots were fired and our victim has two seperate wounds, which appear to be from gunshot,” he stated.
Douglas believes that the injuries are non-life threatening.
Reportedly, it was a physical altercation that escalated to gun shots being fired in the Winnsboro Mill area.
No arrests were made, but Douglas said the FCSO is searching for two individuals. Neither the names of the accused or the victim were released.
Douglas emphasized that the shooting was not a random act and that the parties knew each other.
“It appears to be some sort of altercation that escalated to this,” he noted.
The supposed shooter was not on site when deputies arrived on scene.
Douglas said three people left the scene in a vehicle after the shooting.
“Indications are that they have left town,” Douglas told The Herald Independent. “We’re trying to determine where they may be at this time.”
