If you’ve got cable television and can pick up the Discovery Channel, you need to clear your schedule at 10 p.m. tonight (Sept. 15) and grab a seat in front of the TV for the first installment of REBEL GOLD.
REBEL GOLD is an all-new series that follows an experienced group treasure hunters as they join forces to retrace Jefferson Davis’ trail and search for clues that could lead them to the legendary treasure.
With new evidence, the group will go off the beaten path to dig deep into American history and local legend to find out what really happened to the missing REBEL GOLD.
As the Civil War came to an end in 1865, Confederate President Jefferson Davis fled Richmond, Va., with the contents of the Confederate treasury – an estimated $20 million worth of gold and silver by today’s value. Six weeks later, Davis was captured, but the treasure had vanished.
For 150 years since the Civil War, many have attempted to find the lost Confederate riches. But with more than 500 miles of train tracks, dirt roads and river ways to explore, one of America’s most compelling mysteries remains unsolved.
REBEL GOLD, produced by ITV Studios America, brings an all-star team of treasure hunters, history experts and engineering specialists – each an expert in their field – who share one common obsession: making history by finding the vanished treasure of REBEL GOLD.
Together, they will combine efforts and go where no one has ventured before to unravel the mystery that could take them deeper into history than ever before.
Will the team put their differences aside to make history and reach a common goal or will greed and rivalry pit ever man against each other?
The second installment will air next Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 10 p.m. on the Discovery Channel and is expected to include some footage shot right here in Fairfield County. Discovery Channel can be found on channel 32 of TruVista.
