FAIRFIELD COUNTY — Fairfield County School District and the S.C. Department of Education wants all children to have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Child Find reaches out to the community through local school districts and provides help to families with children that have special needs.

If your child is 3-5 years old and you answer “yes” to any of the following statements, you may need Child Find.

• Does not talk

• Has limited vocabulary

• Cannot drink from a cup

• Cannot feed self

• Does not say words clearly

• Does not follow simple commands

• Does not play with other children

• Cannot hold a crayon or pencil

Child Find is looking for children who may not be reaching their full potential due to developmental delays. Child Find is a program designed to assist families and children who need special services.

The purpose of their preschool program for children with special needs is to provide early intervention which may prevent some developmental disabilities form becoming more severe. Contact the Fairfield County School District, Office of Student Services, at 803-635-4607 for more information.
