FAIRFIELD COUNTY — The Evergreen Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star is green when it comes to back to school bashes.
Fairfield County’s local chapter of Order of the Eastern Star held its first Back to School Bash last Saturday.
“I am so happy that the community came out and supported our event. It’s always scary to organize an event and hope that people show up,” said Shamieka Sims, chapter member.
Children were given school supplies and were encouraged to participate in physical activities, such as jumping rope and volleyball. Vendors were also in attendance and hot dogs were served.
“We would like to thank Advance Auto Parts for allowing us to use their parking lot as well. Over 100 people attended and the chapter looks forward to next year in hopes to grow even more,” Sims said.
