Spiritfest 2015 is held at 7 p.m. on the steps of the Fairfield County Courthouse. Fairfield Central High School and Fairfield Middle School teams, cheerleaders and coaching staff are scheduled to appear. Richard Winn Academy teams, cheerleaders and coaching staff are scheduled to appear. School boards of Richard Winn Academy and Fairfield County School District will be on hand for the event. Spiritfest is sponsored by Historic Downtown Winnsboro Merchats.

Aug. 15

• The S.C. Railroad Museum holds a twilight train ride featuring a barbecue dinner at 6:30 p.m. Passengers will be transported to the Rion Quarry Office, where there will be a barbecue dinner featuring two types of barbecue, sides and beverages. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for children. Visit www.SCRM.org for more information or to make reservations.

• The Winnsboro Farmer’s Market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to NAPA in the 100 block of North Congress Street in Winnsboro.

Aug. 15-16

The Columbia Philatelic Society holds its Summer Stamp & Postcard Show at Spring Valley High School. Parking and admission are free. A merit badge program for Boy Scouts will be included.

• The Fairfield County Disabilities and Special Needs Board meets at noon at 408 W. Washington St. Agendas are posted monthly. Call 803-635-2154 for more information.

Aug. 22

• The Winnsboro Farmer’s Market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to NAPA in the 100 block of North Congress Street in Winnsboro.

Aug. 23

• The annual Night for Sight gospel concert is held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Doko Manor in Blythewood. Tickets are $6 and available at Vanity Stylon in Winnsboro and at the door. Contact Lion Paul Dove at 718-2298 or any member of the Winnsboro Lions Club for sponsorship information. The Winnsboro, Blythewood, Greater Irmo and Columbia NE Lions Clubs are sponsors.

Fairfield County Council meets the second and fourth Monday of every month at 6 p.m.

Winnsboro Town Council meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 6:15 p.m.

Fairfield County School Board meets third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.

Jenkinsville Town Council meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m.

Ridgeway Town Council meets second Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

Winnsboro Lions Club meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at China Buffet. Visitors are welcomed.

Fairfield County Emergency Alert Program registers residents to get alerts about emergencies in the area. You must have an email address to register for the alert program. Fairfield Behavioral Health Services invites Fairfield County churches to help them say no to the danger and deadly impact of tobacco by displaying a permanent “Not On These Grounds” tobacco-free sign.
