FAIRFIELD COUNTY — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office will begin its next Citizens Academy on Feb. 9.

Classes will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Tuesday through March 15 at the FCSO Training Center (former SC National Guard Armory Building), 5509 Old Airport Road in Winnsboro.

Participants must be 18 years old and residents of Fairfield County with no/limited criminal history and must commit to attending at least five out of six sessions. Class size is limited to 25. Future classes will be planned as interest dictates.

The class is designed to acquaint citizens of Fairfield County with the personnel, services, investigative techniques, and “day to day” operations of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Topics will include Narcotics Investigations, Criminal Investigations, School Resource Officer functions, Local Gang Awareness, Community Oriented Policing programs, Special Operations, and a general overview of the structure of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
