MYRTLE BEACH — The Fairfield School District was well represented at the South Carolina Beta Club Convention at Myrtle Beach. Teams from every school in the district competed in areas from art to academics.
From the Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science, Ericka Kelly placed second for her colored pencil rendering of a leopard and Sara Pullen added another second place award for her watercolor rendering of a horse.
Geiger Elementary School placed third in “Spotlight Your Club,” which was a total club effort since it highlighted all of the club service learning projects and accomplishments this year.
The students that created the display and accepted the award were Ariyanna Sampson, Makenzie Harrison, Janiah Holmes, Smyra Thomas, and Ayleah McCloud.
McCrorey Liston School for Technology saw Ryan Crumpton and Jaylen Robinson pick up third place awards for their artwork. Crumpton composed a watercolor painting of Maya Angelou and Robinson made a black and white sketch of blues great B.B. King.
McCrorey Liston also had the top prize for the Banner Contest.
The Fairfield Middle School Beta Club finished in second place (out of 52 teams) in the Quiz Bowl and will represent the district at the National Beta Club Convention in New Orleans this June.
