SCANA makes payouts

FAIRFIELD COUNTY – SCANA Corp. and its subsidiaries, including SCE&G, paid approximately $178 million in property taxes in South Carolina for property assessed in 2015 — including $25.8 million paid to Fairfield County.

“These dollars help support schools, police, fire and other critical public services and have a significant impact in the communities we serve,” SCE&G spokesman Eric Boomhower said.

The largest single tax payment was made to Lexington County in the amount of approximately $35.4 million. Other significant payments included:

Aiken County — $9.0 million

Allendale County — $1.3 million

Bamberg County — $1.5 million

Barnwell County — $1.8 million

Beaufort County — $5.5 million

Berkeley County — $8.3 million

Charleston County — $16.5 million

Colleton County — $2.7 million

Dorchester County — $5.4 million

Edgefield County — $1.4 million

Fairfield County — $25.8 million

Florence County — $1.0 million

Hampton County — $2.5 million

Jasper County — $5.8 million

Lexington County — $35.4 million

Orangeburg County — $13.0 million

Richland County — $33.8 million

Saluda County — $1.2 million
