FAIRFIELD COUNTY — In light of the projections of possible inclement weather over the next few days, Fairfield County Sheriff Will Montgomery requests that everyone be a “good neighbor” and check on the elderly and infirm in their communities, as well as anyone else who might need assistance.
If you are aware of any individuals who might be susceptible to this harsh weather, contact the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office and they will assist them in making any necessary arrangements. The FCSO can be reached at 803-635-4141
“We are closely monitoring weather conditions at this time,” Montgomery said. “While some precipitation is expected to be upon Fairfield County before midnight tonight, higher temperatures should prevent this precipitation from becoming a concern through the night. However, weather models indicate that we will have a strong chance of experiencing freezing rain beginning around 7 a.m. Friday morning.”
If the weather does become severe, Montgomery recommended that everyone not travel unless absolutely necessary due to possible hazardous driving conditions. Additionally, if you do need to travel, be sure to tell a friend or family member where you are going and what time you should arrive.
“It’s always a good idea to be overly cautious in these situations,” he said.
Montgomery said the FCSO will be monitoring conditions to keep the public advised of any impending necessary advisories.
