RIDGEWAY – Ridgeway Reads participants are invited to a discussion on “Once In A Blue Moon” with its author, Sandy Vassallo, on Jan. 17.
The discussion will begin at 3 p.m. at The Century House, 170 S. Dogwood Ave. Laura’s Tea Room will provide refreshments. “Once In A Blue Moon” is the fifth book written by Vassallo, who lives in Columbia.
“The story begins in Columbia, but then it heads to the shores of Lake Erie and Madison, Ohio, where it unravels into a reconnection and illumination that once in a blue moon, good things come our way when we least expect them,” Vassallo said.
The book is available for purchase at the Fairfield County Arts Council’s Gallery at Over The Top, located at 115 Palmer St. in Ridgeway, and at other Ridgeway merchants. It is also available online and for Kindle.
Vassallo plans to donate all of the royalties from the sale of the book to help with relief for neighbors in Columbia who were impacted by the flooding.
Vassallo’s prior two books — The Rosewood Book Club (2013) and Lavender and Earl Gray Tea (2014) — were both set in South Carolina. Lavender and Earl Gray Tea begins with a scene set at the famous Laura’s Tea Room in Ridgeway.
The reading initiative is sponsored by the Fairfield County Arts Council, the Town of Ridgeway and Laura’s Tea Room and is open to anyone who wants to participate. Contact Darlene Embleton at 803-629-0093 for more information.
