WINNSBORO — Area residents may want to give an engraved brick in honor or memory of someone special and support the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Foundation at the same time.

Engraved bricks, which line the sidewalk in the Garden of Remembering at the hospital, are available for a $60 donation to the FMH Foundation.

“They can make special gifts to honor or remember loved ones or friends, your church, yourself or a business,” said Mike Quinn, foundation president.

Acknowledgments are sent as requested. Occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, birth of a child, retirement, or a memorial to honor someone make lasting gifts.

Tending to the Garden of Remembering takes year round care and receives help from Fairfield Master Gardeners and other volunteers.

“We’ve sold a lot of bricks since we opened the garden,” he said. “We’ve just about filled one side of the sideway and soon will be putting bricks on the other side.”

Visitors to the hospital may want to visit the Garden of Remembering when in the hospital for a procedure, x-ray or lab work.

“It’s become an interesting place to walk through and read all the bricks,” Quinn said.

Donor cards to purchase engraved bricks are available at the hospital. Or contact the foundation at 803.608.5510. Fairfield Memorial Hospital Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 established to support the hospital to purchase needed equipment and technology.
