WINNSBORO — As a community pharmacist at Price’s Prescription Shop in downtown Winnsboro, Carrie Baker is intimately involved with the health care needs of the residents of Fairfield County.
Properly filling prescriptions written by medical doctors is only part of her job. She counsels patients about the medications they have been prescribed, discusses potential adverse effects they may experience, and possible interactions with their other medications.
Baker is now working with the S.C. Pharmacy Association and S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control to offer a Blood Pressure Coaching Program for rural areas in South Carolina.
“I enjoy working in close contact with the fine people of our community,” Baker said. “Serving them is very important to me.”
Baker graduated from Richard Winn Academy in 1994, attended Columbia College, and received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in 2000. She and her husband Bruce, also a graduate of Richard Winn Academy, have three children, all of whom attend RWA.
