WINNSBORO — A banker, nurse practitioner, and a teacher walk into the room. No, this isn’t a joke, but the results are just as funny.
These are just a few of the performers in the Pine Tree Playhouse’s upcoming holiday comedy, Dashing Through the Snow.
Director Teresa Reed has put together a stellar cast for the play, which takes place in the Snowflake Inn, a bed and breakfast in Tinsel, Texas. The play will consist of four scenes in two acts, and each scene is funnier than the last.
From Mrs. Claus sneaking off with an elf for a pre-Christmas fling to the hastily prepared sixth wedding for Honey Raye, the play brings a nice variance in humor. The writers of the play were Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten.
Each of the writers has been recognized several times over for previous hits.
Jones co-wrote the funeral comedy Dearly Departed and its film adaption Kingdom Come which featured Whoopi Goldberg and LL Cool J. Nicholas Hope contributed to several syndicated television shows and has served as director for theater groups from Texas, New York and Chicago.
Perhaps the best known of the play’s authors is Jamie Wooten, the long-time writer and producer of The Golden Girls. Wooten is also an award winning songwriter. Together, these writers have written and produced 15 plays, many of which have become favorites across the South.
The Pine Tree Players will present Dashing Through the Snow on Dec. 4, Dec. 5, Dec. 11, and Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 at 3 p.m.
