JENKINSVILLE — A house fire in Jenkinsville on Saturday morning resulted in a badly damaged house, but no injuries.
Firefighters from Greenbriar, Lebanon and Feasterville responded Saturday morning to a call reporting a fire at 71 Blacksmith Lane.
“A passerby called it in,” said Tony Price, a volunteer for Greenbriar Fire Department. “He said he wasn’t familiar with the area, but he saw smoke and the flames.”
Price said 240,000 gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire, which had already burned a significant portion of the house by the time firefighters arrived.
“We did the best we could,” Price said. “It was burning pretty good when we got here.”
No one was home at the time the fire started but 60-year-old Evex Martin, the homeowner, said he feels the fire was started intentionally and if it was, he might know who started it.
Fairfield County Sheriff Will Montgomery said the cause of the fire is being examined.
“We’re looking into it,” Montgomery said.
