MSI Chess Team wins in tournament

Midlands STEM Institute fielded two teams representing both elementary and middle school. The event was Midlands Scholastic Chess League I. Eli Moore, a fourth-grader, played up in the K-8 division (middle school) and won individual first place honors. Sixth-grader Kameron Belk won fourth place in same division. Fifth-grader Messiah Cornelius won fourth place individual honors in the K-5 division. Cornelius and teammates Taylor Hollis and Katie Maldonado helped propel MSI to an overall first place finish in the elementary school section as well.
