WINNSBORO — Two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Winnsboro man were arrested in North Carolina after they were found hiding in a home in Autryville, N.C., on Friday.

Acting on an anonymous tip, investigators with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office located Rondell Timothy Trapp, 30, also known as “Buddy,” and Latroy Elmore Trapp, 34, also known as “Black,” around 2:30 p.m. Friday at 56 Garden Spot Lane.

Both are being held in the Sampson County Detention Center without bond, awaiting extradition proceedings.

The two are accused in the Oct. 8 shooting that resulted in the death of Riley Gadson Jr. in Winnsboro. The shooting occurred at 317 Crawford Street around 9 p.m. Oct. 8.

Police Chief Freddy Lorick said the shooting stemmed from Gadson being asked to deliver $10 to an acquaintance.

Witnesses said Rondell Trapp shot Gadson in the leg and that Latroy was with him but they did not know his role in the incident.

Gadson was rushed to the hospital and into surgery, but died during surgery.

Lorick said they looked into the possibility there was a scuffle earlier in the day between Gadson and another individual. That person was questioned and released by police.
