WINNSBORO — Fairfield Central hosted its annual Pink Game recently to raise awareness for breast cancer. Teachers and staff members came together as a team to play a group from the community.

The game started off slow, but both teams came on strong to end the first half. In the end, the Fairfield Central staff fought off a ferocious effort from the community team to win 52-48.

More importantly, though, several breast cancer survivors were honored at the break. Honorees included Paula Berry, Marsha Cloud, Yolanda Montgomery, Eliza Bouleware, Gene Ashford, and Drusilla Manning.

Principal Tracie Swilley and Athletic Director Terrell Roach were both happy with the turnout.

In related news, Griffin offensive coordinator Ryan Sharpe provided an update for his wife, Jenni. You may recall she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Coach Sharpe said she had responded well to treatment and, though exhausted, was doing well and appreciated the support from the community.
