WINNSBORO — The Mill Village Reunion #2 welcomed in residents and friends of Winnsboro’s Mill Village last Saturday. Villagers came from all over the southeast to reunite and celebrate.
From Elvis to Michael Jackson, the reunion had it all. Several villagers even performed a dance in poodle skirts.
Chair Gail Floyd said she had a blast between helping organize the reunion and seeing it through.
Don and Judy Bonds were on hand and brought their collection of coins that Uniroyal gave employees during hard times. The Bonds also had a collection of photos taken during the construction of the Mill Village homes.
Cheslie and Pearl Enloe came in for the reunion as well, traveling from their Tennessee home. They were at the first Mill Village reunion and could not resist coming back, and this time they brought their daughter.
“The tears started flowing when she walked up to let me know she came,” Gail Floyd said. “I haven’t seen her since I was 10 years old.”
Floyd said that one of the coolest events at the reunion involved Larry Snipes and Jim Hughes from Rock Hill dressed up as the Blues Brothers. Their act included two deputies that were hired for the event and even included Sheriff Will Montgomery
“Everyone loved the show, especially our new sheriff participating with the two officers,” Floyd said.
