WINNSBORO – A 1993 graduate of Fairfield Central High School called into the ministry following graduation will be returning to Winnsboro as the guest minister at Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church’s homecoming celebration on Nov. 1.
The Rev. Michael Arant of Florence was in high school when his father, the Rev. Athan Arant, served at Gordon Memorial Church on Fifth Street in Winnsboro.
He went on to attend two colleges in South Carolina and graduated with honors from Duke Divinity School in 2001. He currently serves at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Florence.
“We’re honored to have Mike come back to Winnsboro to be our guest minister,” said Mike Quinn, chairman of the administrative council at Gordon. “I remember when he was here and decided to answer the call into the ministry.”
The special homecoming church service begins at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck meal in the church’s family life center. Members, former members and their friends and family are invited to attend this special service. Local residents are invited to attend as well.
Quinn said those planning to attend should RSVP by calling the church at 803-635-4471 or by email to email@example.com.
