WINNSBORO — The elementary students of Richard Winn Academy will present a musical program honoring Nelle McMaster Sprott at 9 a.m. Oct. 22.

Sprott wrote numerous songs about South Carolina that were recorded by the “Singing Sandlappers,” students from Mt. Zion and Everett elementary schools. The records were distributed to all of the state’s schools in 1970 to celebrate the tricentennial.

Richard Winn wants these “Singing Sandlappers” to join them and be recognized during the celebration. Contact Ellen Nicholson at enicholson@truvista.net if you will be able to attend.
