WINNSBORO — Winnsboro Town Council approved an expenditure request from the water plant and gave a pair of ordinances related to the budget second reading at its most recent meeting.
During a brief meeting, Council approved an expenditure request from the water plant totalling $59,500.
“That’s an aging infrastructure down there,” said Winnsboro Town Manager Don Wood. “It’s starting to have more need for maintenance.”
The request included old clear well clean out for $7,000, chlorine gas system upgrade for $3,2000, pulsator vacuum blower for $3,500, and replacement motors for a spent wash pump for $17,000.
Wood explained the necessity of replacement spent wash pump motors.
“Most of them have completely stopped,” Wood said. “We have two that are no longer functional, we had to bring in a portable diesel pump to take care of that necessary action.”
Council, which was without Councilman Stan Klaus from District 2, and Councilman Clyde Sanders from District 3, voted unanimously to approve the request.
An ordinance adopting the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1 received its second reading. An ordinance providing the levy of taxes in Winnsboro for the same fiscal year also received second reading.
No motions came out of executive session.
Winnsboro Town Council’s next meeting is at 6 p.m. June 16 at Winnsboro Town Hall.
