WINNSBORO — Richard Winn Academy hosted the Greenwood Christian School Hawks on Feb. 7. It was senior night for the Eagles as they honored six players, two girls and four boys.
The final regular season games were victorious for both varsity Eagle teams.

The Lady Eagles took to the court with full intensity from the beginning. RWA played a tough defensive game, allowing Greenwood to put just two points up the entire first half. With the final score of 52-10, the Lady Eagles finished the season undefeated at home.
The win improved their overall record to 23-1 and 8-0 in region play. Leading scorers of the Greenwood game were Jessie Stidham and Jaycie Johnson with 14 points each, Emily Brigman with 12, Carson Justice with 11, and Alyssa Atkerson with 10. Senior Anna Cooke also added six, Cassidy Branham contributed four points, and Calee Thigpen scored two.

The Eagles played a hard game against the Hawks. Senior Patrick Pope really stepped up with his shots, scoring 29 of the 59 total points. The Eagles ultimately soared higher than the Hawks, winning 59-45.
Cameron Cooper scored eight points, and Mitchell Gibbons had seven. Joseph Goldin put six points on the board, and Mason Gibbons added five. Jason Branham and Gunnar Hensley each contributed two.
The Eagles continue play in the region tournament. RWA takes the court Thursday, February 13 at Union County High School. As of press time, opponents and game times are to be announced.
