FAIRFIELD COUNTY — A lake wind advisory is in effect in Fairfield County until 7 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 22) morning.

Winds are expected to reach up to high gusts of 40 miles per hour. The winds will bring in another arctic cold front to the area.

A strong cold front will enter the area tonight, with temperatures dropping into the low 20’s.

With the freezing temperatures, be sure to leave your faucets dripping to prevent pipes from freezing.

Power outages are also likely overnight in some areas, due to the potential of high winds knocking down trees and power lines.

If you do not have to travel please do not do so. Be sure to stock up on emergency supplies like water, blankets, flashlights and batters in case of a power outage.

Please stay in a residence that is secure against high winds.
